My name is Gemma and I am a professional portrait photographer in South West Florida, serving anywhere from Fort Myers to Sarasota and surrounding areas. Although originally from England, I’ve lived in Punta Gorda for 17 years with my husband and our two amazing sons. They are fully to blame for my photography addiction! Capturing their milestones sparked my interest and wanting to learn more I enrolled in classes. Gemma Schaefer Photography officially began in November 2014 and I’ve never looked back.
One of the greatest things we can leave our families, other than happy memories, are photos.
A prized possession of mine is a black and white portrait of my grandmother taken in February of 1946. Nobody would know how she looked at 19 without that portrait. It fascinates me how her features changed or remained the same over the years. It will be proudly passed on to my sons to keep it in our family for generations to come. My aim is to give my clients beautiful portraits that they too can pass on to their children and their children’s children.
Variety inspires me and I love to photograph almost anything and everything – whether it’s outside in beautiful, natural Florida sun, or indoors creating original studio portraits (got to love that AC!) As a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) since 2014, I am a proud Certified Professional Photographer. I won a scholarship through them in 2018, and my work has been published in Harbor Style magazine and Isle’s Life magazine. I am fully licensed and insured.
Our community is important to me and I love to give back. I am a member of a number of local groups including: Women Who Care (Charlotte County), C.A.R.E Auxiliary Group, Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce, Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce, and Innovative Networking. Also, I am a proud Leadership Charlotte Class of 2023 alumni – go Green!
