Turning 40 is awesome

Michele came to see me as part of my ‘Life Begins at 40’ project. A women’s empowerment project aimed at ladies turning 40 or ANY age over 40. Michele turned 40 in April and feels like now she accepts who she is, she had previously struggled with feeling like she was too much for some people and not enough for others. During Covid she decided to make some healthier life choices and noticed changes not only in how she looked but also in how she felt about herself. She was drawn to the project because she believes that moms are often the ones taking the photos and not the ones in the pictures.

Luckily when we booked her session it worked out that her mom was going to be in town so I asked Michele if she would like to bring her along for some of the portraits. Both ladies were pampered with hair and makeup and then we captured some beautiful photographs to show their amazing connection. We also had her husband join us later on to celebrate their relationship – they have been together 23 years and married for 18!

Michele admits to being a little nervous before her session but says that once she was having her hair and makeup done she was excited, she said the session was fun and she felt so comfortable during it.

We managed to capture several different looks during the session – my personal favorite was the vintage style outfit that she brought with her and she rocked those poses!

I asked Michele, if she could, what advice she would give to her younger self and she said “Don’t be so hard on yourself.  LOVE yourself, and accept that YOU ARE AMAZING!”

I also asked her what advice she would offer to someone who is considering being a part of the project and she said “For anyone that is contemplating taking part in this project, DO IT!!!! You will NOT regret it…you will leave feeling empowered and beautiful!”
